                                 Washing Instructions

Keiko recommends washing your new kimono in a cool wash and hang dry the kimono to keep it from shrinking too much on the sleeves and pant length.

Keiko gis are preshrunk on the body, but we give you the option to shrink up the sleeves and pants length up to 2 inches, for those with a shorter reach.

Our colored gis are 'color reinforced' and so they do not lose too much of their color. Although you should not use too harsh products on them (Bleach, Clorox, etc...). A 'color safe' detergent should do the trick on these 100% cotton kimonos.

Tip: Be sure to wash your new kimono before you sew patches on. DO NOT SOAK, BLEACH, MACHINE DRY OR DRY CLEAN.

Our kimonos are known for having a slightly longer lapel to help with lapel chokes and to make sure your kimono is IBJJF competition approved.
